STATEMENT

RUN OFF is an adventure, drama film where events are true but characters and crisis are fictional. The narrative explores a survival story of some Bangladeshis, where a group of workers in 2011 in search of job undergoes in contrast to their journey from Dhaka to Malaysia through some different devastating survival situation. The name of the film is taken from this journey, which is justified as the main conflict emerges from the issue written on JATRA. The protagonist and other characters make it through the historical truth, ‘migration inherits human civilization’ which still remains the same and play a catalyst role in today’s reality. In the movie, our main protagonist has faced much complexity that gives dramatic progress of the story that has extreme potential to hook. It also throws a message to all that what path is to be chosen. For Asian audience, it is much understandable and for an international audience, it comes as a reality of human trafficking as well as the socio-economic glimpse and personal complexity of protagonist involves as like as other dramas attract. In-home industry, it can contribute showing choice except for action and romantic family drama and also inspires addressing cross-border and humanitarian issues. JATRA explores market of the 4th largest speaking language, population over 300 million and places that connect this huge number of the audience including overseas workers and migrants. Another strong point of the story, it is a very contemporary issue in Bangladesh in relating other human trafficking reality occurring worldwide.
